Fun Stuff:

"Music for the Eyes" is proud to show the work of local artists:

We have chairs, tables and benches carved from wood by Pat McVay; large works, jewelry and candle holders from the glass artist Natalie Hahn; and several pieces from the marble sculptor Alexei Kazantsev. From Central Asia, we brought back a collection of Russian icons...and another of lacquerware boxes painted by Uzbek artists in Islamic or other themes. You can also find unique Kyrgyz items in our shop such as a man's leather chaps, a fur-lined skirt, a wooden saddle, and a miniature yurt (which was displayed last year in the textile museum in Washington D.C.).

We collect interesting pieces from African trips, including fetish figures, which are said to protect the home from evil spirits, as well as to remind the inhabitants of their ancestors.  We have African jewelry, beaded hangings, and cushions and other pieces made of rafia palm or bakuba cloth. We always have a selection of pashmina and silk scarves, leather and woven purses and now  even silk bedspreads.  By the time you read this article, we may have other new treasures.
